Everything about it was 5 star. Our guides were knowledgeable and fun. And, they ensured the group enjoyed and learned about the Civil Rights Movement. Highly recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions

Booking a Private Group Tour

What do I need to do to book a private Atlanta group tour?

First, add your information in the form above.

Second, we’ll contact you to get more information about your event.

Third, we will send over a proposal with pricing.

Take your time to review it — our sales team is here to answer any questions you might have.

Are the tours best for small or large groups?

Our team building events are perfect for teams both large and small. We love hosting groups, whether you have 10 people or 250!

For groups over 250, we recommend the Big Bash or Conference Opener options.

What's the difference in a team building tour and a private group tour?

Team building events for corporate groups are private group tours, but team building tours have a different focus from family reunion tours, bachelorette parties, and school groups. Rest assured, our sales team will take care of your event needs.

Why is an Unexpected Atlanta tour a good choice to see the city?

Of course, you can do murder mystery dinners and scavenger hunts. And, you can certainly do axe throwing in any city.

But, you can’t do an Atlanta tour anywhere else. If your group wants a truly local Atlanta experience, a tour with experts is the best option.

On an Unexpected Atlanta tour, you’ll experience the city’s most interesting neighborhoodsand hear stories not commonly known. During the tours, you will learn about the history behind the city and try incredible local food.

Most importantly, we help you create memories to cherish with your friends and family!

To hear it from a recent guest “To miss this tour would have been to miss Atlanta.”

About the Tours

How long are the tours?

Generally, our standard experiences are roughly 2 to 3 hours long. However, we can customize a shorter or longer experience for your group.

How close are the tours to other major attractions?

Unexpected Atlanta tours are close to many top Atlanta attractions. For instance, the following activities are within a short drive to our tours:

  • Georgia Aquarium, about 1 mile to Historic Market Food Tour + Biscuit Class
  • Skyline Park at Ponce City Market, about 1 mile from Grant Park Food Tour

What type of activity is involved?

Forget boring facts. In fact, it’s likely that you will! But not with us. Our tour guides are trained storytellers and performers who won’t lecture you. Instead, they’ll share exciting stories about the city that we love.

First, we engage with a basic icebreaker. Throughout the tour, we will spur conversation between the guests.

We love incorporating the “unexpected” sides of the city for you.  For our Curb Market tour, we include a mini biscuit-making class. On our Street Art tour, your group actually creates their own art.

Is a tour just a boring lecture?

NO! To the contrary, our tours are super engaging and will have your group excited to explore Atlanta. You will actively participate in our city and learn so much about it.

Do the tours require lots of walking or physical activity?

All of the tours are a comfortable 1 to 2 mile walk with limited hills. Usually, a person of average fitness can enjoy the group tours. This is not a power walk, and we adjust the pace to the group. Accessibility is important to us, so if you have questions about specific tours or limitations, please reach out! We’re happy to provide more information or customize your experience.

About the Food Tours

Can I add more cocktails to the food tours for my group?

Of course, we can add more cocktails. We can customize menus and offer add-on options at most spots.

Can I remove cocktails from the food tour?

Yes, we can customize your drink options.

What are the advantages of booking a private group tour?

There are so many advantages to booking a private group tour:

First, take the pressure of someone from your group doing the shopping, cooking, and cleaning!

Many groups aren’t thrilled to cook together. But, tasting foods together is fun and energizing.

Second, booking a private group tour ensures you don’t have a couple extra folks from a public tour joining your party.

Third, getting into the city and exploring places guests don’t know gets everyone involved.

In short, it’s building community with food!

Why should we pay for a food tour? After all, couldn't we just go to a restaurant?

On our Atlanta food tours, first, we have two to three seated locations. Second, guests can chat while walking between restaurants. Third, we build in conversations and activities to keep everyone connecting.

On the other hand, at a restaurant, your guests will only talk to one or two people. Often, at ordinary dinners, people feel like they didn’t get a chance to talk with each other.

That never happens on our tours.

How do I know that the food will be good?

We work with some of the city’s best food suppliers who stand behind their food and drink. For example, Six Feet Under was featured on the Food Network. Additionally, all of our restaurants stand behind their food and many have been featured in national media.

In addition, we have multiple chefs on our team.

We have a tight budget. Can you work with us?

Please e-mail us above. We have tour options that range from $40-$250.

What type of food and drink is included?

Here is a sample menu (subject to change) on our Grant Park tour:

  • Six Feet Under: shrimp and grits; fried catfish and okra
  • Firepit: Steak pizza; pork belly toast; Pony Punch
  • Little Tart: whole wheat chocolate chip cookie; apple cheddar turnover

Vegetarians may receive:

  • Six Feet Under: asparagus and grits; fried okra; fresh corn salad
  • Firepit: fried brussels sprouts; parmesan bites
  • Little Tart: whole wheat chocolate chip cookie; apple cheddar turnover
